As a result of the growing refugee crisis developing in Calais, charitable group Calais Refugee Solidarity Bristol has announced a fundraising campaign with Fundsurfer in order to raise as much money as possible to help contribute to the continuing aid efforts in Calais, providing supplies, helpers and donations in order to grant these vulnerable people some much needed relief.
Sarah Jane, Logistics Co-ordinator, Calais Refugee Solidarity Bristol said,
“The situation in Calais is part of a wider migration crisis in Europe and world wide - partly caused largely by the displacement of people from war-torn countries such as Syria, Afghanistan, and Eritrea, and across North Africa. Worldwide 59.5 million people are displaced, more than since WWII. We are in contact with the charities working in the camp at Calais as needs can change very quickly. We will also liaise with community and cultural organisations and businesses to build links and gather support for people living in the camp at Calais. The support has been incredible so far with over £5000 raised in a week and over 20 tons of suppliers and donations”
Calais Refugee Solidarity Bristol was formed this year is response to the growing refugee crisis in Calais. With the number of refugees rising, the demand for help is ever increasing. These people are in dire need of any form of assistance, so CRSB are not only looking for cash donations but also supplies and supporters to volunteer at the camps. If you wish to be a part of this vital and urgent project, you can do so here.
