Intro to cryptocurrencies

Cryptocurrencies are new payment methods that only exist online. They only really became useful for day-to-day use in the last few years.

They are called cryptocurrencies because they are based on the mathematical field cryptography (lots of prime numbers!).

Unlike credit cards, Paypal, and other online payment systems, crptocurrencies do not need you to have a connected bank account - in fact they do not need a banking system at all.

Just like credit cards and Paypal, as long as you protect your personal details then cryptocurrencies are perfectly safe and secure.

If you have some Bitcoin you can spend it, you can trade it, or you can save it for a rainy day!
