Brains in Bloom: Sensory Support Boxes for Neurodivergent Pregnancy
Primary tabs
Brains in Bloom is a pilot project from NeuroNatal Academy CIC a not-for-profit organisation supporting neurodivergent people through pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood.
We’re creating 50 sensory support boxes designed specifically for neurodivergent pregnant people — especially those with ADHD, autism, sensory processing differences, or heightened anxiety.
Each box includes:
A deck of 35 affirmation cards (tarot-sized, full-colour, accessible language)
A printed mini booklet explaining the items, offering sensory and emotional regulation tips, and linking to further support
A selection of gentle, neuro-affirming sensory tools to reduce overwhelm.
Access to our Neurodivergent Antenatal Support classes.
🎯 Our goal
We are seeking to raise £2,500 to cover:
Printing 50 card decks and 50 full-colour booklets.
Purchasing sensory tools (e.g. weighted eye masks, ear protectors, comfort items)
Packaging and postage
Contingency and admin costs
This pilot will allow us to:
Get these boxes directly into the hands of people who need them
Gather feedback and insights to refine and scale the project
Develop partnerships with perinatal organisations and funders for a full launch
🧠 Who’s involved?
The project is led by Laura Spence, founder of NeuroNatal Academy C.I.C — a midwife, birth trauma therapist, NHS Clinical Entrepreneur, and neurodivergent mother. The development is also informed by co-design with neurodivergent parents, midwives, and perinatal mental health professionals.
NeuroNatal is:
CPD-accredited
Member of Social Enterprise UK
Based in London (with reach across the UK)
Proudly not-for-profit
⚠️ What are the risks?
This is a pilot — and like any early-stage project, it depends on:
Raising enough to cover production and distribution costs
Delivering items on time (estimated July–August 2025)
Gathering feedback and adapting based on what works best
All design and content is ready to go. Our main challenge is funding production and printing. If delays arise (e.g. supply chain, printing issues), we’ll keep all supporters informed and ensure all boxes are delivered as soon as possible.
🫶 Why your support matters
Neurodivergent people are consistently underserved in maternity care. Many describe feeling overwhelmed, dismissed, or unsupported in environments that aren’t built for how their brains work.
Brains in Bloom is about changing that — not with generic advice, but with concrete, calming tools that honour neurodivergent experience and offer real, sensory-safe support.
Whether you donate £5 or £50, you’re helping someone feel seen and supported at one of the most vulnerable times in their life.
If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this page with others who care about birth equity and neurodivergent inclusion.
