We like to think that the People’s Republic of Stokes Croft (PRSC) is more than just a community enterprise. Value-led, we try to work up to our principles and provide a force of solidarity and relentless optimism in pretty bloody bleak times. We are a small group of artists, activists, and citizens who believe in the power of creativity, sustainability, and social justice. Since 2006, our team have worked to provide affordable, accessible creative spaces, and support services for vulnerable communities, as well as amplifying their voices to ensure they stay part of the local conversation. This is part of our goal to champion Stokes Croft and help shape it as a true cultural quarter that reflects and represents modern Bristol.

Right now we need your help to keep the revolution alive. Your donations will help us continue our vital work in the community and maintain our services for local rough sleepers.

• We distribute much needed tents, sleeping bags, warm clothes and toiletries from our Blanket Store on Jamaica Street.
• We're the sole Bristol distributor for Dope Magazine (3000 mags in the last two months!), a solidarity initiative that helps those in need support themselves.
• We provide 24 hour access to running water and electricity for charging phones and devices, on the corner of Jamaica and Hillgrove Streets.
• We can also continue running our weekly Peoples Art Club & Community Drop In, free creative sessions open to absolutely everyone. This unique group has brought together diverse and often marginalised communities through artistic expression. In the words of one attendee, "Everyone that’s in here is a person. It doesn’t matter if they’re homeless, if they’ve got a job, they’re on benefits, if they take drugs, it doesn’t matter. They’re just a person.".
• You'll also be helping secure our regular exhibition, the People’s Art Fair – a free and open art show that brings professionals together with first time exhibitors to deliver art to and from the people, and the School of Activism – our curriculum of active citizenship workshops for all ages.
• On top of all of that, we’re just about to put on ‘The Struggle Continues’, an original exhibition celebrating the anniversary of the Bristol Bus Boycott, alongside other tales of political struggle in Bristol and beyond (17-28 Aug). Artwork and stories from local artists, community members, charities, and campaign groups examine where we have come from and where we are heading. Our funding application for the show didn’t work out but we’re determined to make it happen - with your help we will!

All of the above services don't make us any money but they are vital and important to our users; with your help we can continue extending generosity to those that need it most. As our primary income comes in the form of Stokes Croft China and art sales, and people hiring our event space, the summer is by far our leanest time of year. On top of that, the many challenges and uncertainties of the cost of living crisis and skyrocketing bills, not to mention the long pandemic hangover, have made it a particularly perilous time. We need your support to get over this seasonal lull and make it through to the festive season, when things always pick up again.

We’ve always been fiercely independent and until the pandemic we were entirely self-funded. But we’ve always leant on the amazing volunteers that have helped in our mission and now we need your help to keep our vision alive.
