1-year anniversary & 10,000 meals distributed

March 2021

Body

A year ago today we registered our community food project as a CIC... one year on we can proudly say that we've delivered over 10,000 nutritious meals to members of our local community. We couldn't have done it without the support of each one of our project backers, volunteers, project partners and a wide array of other stakeholders that have supported us along the way. For that, we say a huge THANK YOU. We've pivoted from distributing meals to homeless people and vulnerable households directly to opening a pay-what-you-can community cafe (serving out of Jamaica Street Store's building) and offering a weekly soup run to fill the void of emergency food support in Bristol's city centre every Sunday.

In other good news... spring is here and the proclaimed 'end' of the pandemic is within our sights!

We've come a long way in one year, and we've still got a lot planned in year two, and beyond. Primarily we're hoping to expand the operation of the PWYC community cafe to become a financially self-sufficient eat-in community food hub, providing a physical space for our local community members to come together, eat, share stories, connect, re-energise and inspire. To achieve this, we need to raise some more funds. These funds will be used to hire a part-time front-of-house cafe manager, provide training sessions & mentoring programmes for vulnerable volunteers, enable visits from other charities and offer direct signposting to whoever needs it.

If you can, please help us spread the word, contribute to our fundraiser and come down to our PWYC cafe (pay for someone else's meal too).

Thank you!!

Much love, SCFP.
