What is GLR 

GLR is a online radio station based in Staple Hill, Bristol, we have been broadcasting since Feb 2014 and operate 24hrs a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year (366 If leap year).

We provide a mix of programmes playing out music from today, and music from the last 25 years as well as music from artists not featured as much on commercial/national stations.

We produce a new music show, that supports local artists called the 'Sound Lab' which have now be come members of Bmin (Bristol Music Industry Network) and kindly take your tracks, and submit them for the show.

We also aim to particualr genres of modern music as well, such as dance, trance & garage and have these types of music over the weekend during the evenings

We also love to support local events/charities by promoting them on-air during broadcasts, online on our own website and on social media via twitter/facebook.

We also have broadcasted from these events too such as Christmas On the Hill, Staple Hill, Foodies Festival, EatDrinkFashionBristol, Harbour Festival & The International Balloon Festival

Who is our audience

We aim to provide musical entertainment to 18-40yr olds but natually happy for other listeners too to tune in as well.

We have over 1600 twitter followers and regually attract 20K+ mentions, views and engagements on twitter every week.

We have over 30,000 hits on our website and mobile website too looking at all our features on the site

And regually have over 10K indivudual IP addresses logging into us daily, which doesn't tell us how many are actually there listening

We have our own website http://www.glronair.com  and mobile site too http://www.m.glronair.com which is updated regually with features like community news and style blogs too.

Who are We

We are a group of volunteers who work for other organisations doing other jobs and then devoting our free time to provide Bristol with a great radio station.

Between us we have over 40 years experience working as presenters on air for National commercial stations and the BBC.

We all do our bit, and chip in where we can from presenting to website updates to posting on twitter and going out and about to talk to new artists and businesses about advertising with us

What do we need

In order to keep broadcasting we need just over £2,000 per year for rents, licences, electricity costs, internet and equipment to broadcast on air.

Obviously we try to aim to get this through advertising, but are really finding it difficult to get advertisers due to our working commitments during the day

We obviously run the risk of not affording our rents and thus not having a base to broadcast from, but we have been running for over a year finding funding from ourselves and businesses that have been willing to advertise with us.

Any monies that do come from funding or advertising goes straight back into the station, nothing is pocket by us we are non profit and always will be.

Our Passion & Aims

We aim to grow in stature in the city and eventually broadcast on DAB so therefore get a bigger audience and better for those who do advertise with us,

Examples of Our Work

We supported the 'Great British High Street' and there bid for Park Street, they came Runner Up, listen to the clip to hear one of the features we produced below, We helped Inspiring Woman Live, raise awareness of there forthcoming event last year, and the Gloucester Road - Xmas Party that we broadcasted from in December.
