Updates for St George's Bristol Crowdfund

Thank you..

A final update to say a huge Thank You to everyone who has supported and shared our Building a Sound Future crowdfund appeal which is now officially closed.

This has been our first ever crowdfund and with matched funding and gift aid, has reached the incredible total of £140,508 with a total of 370 backers.

The final call.. no really.. this IS the final call!

Having lived and breathed our Building a Sound Future campaign, along with all of you, for the last 3+ years it seems almost counter intuitive to issue a final call for support .. but this really is it!

The full extended target of £6.3M has been met, all 100 roundels of our Apollo campaign have been sponsored and the final piece of the jigsaw, this crowdfund appeal, which launched on November 28 last year, will close on September 29 this year!

A sneak peak..

Tiptoeing though throngs of builders today with a camera in hand to record progress..

Happy to report that all areas of the site are a hive of activity - from relaying the front steps, re-configuring the crypt as well as great progress on the site of the new extension itself.

A blog-post of images will follow next week as we focus on raising that essential final £100,000 to complete the appeal.

Here is a sneak preview of one shot taken today.. can you work out of where..?!

A Sound Foundation to build on..

Following a sell out Festival of Ideas event with Bernie Sanders last Saturday the hall is now closed to public access until late September. A large crane together with a constant flow of earth removing and incoming cement lorries have taken over the site for the summer as the construction programme moves into full swing. We also now have scaffolding in place at the Great George Street entrance as the stonemasons get to work on a full restoration of our pennant step and the boundary and terrace walls, as part of HLF funded works of our project.

Half way there!

Just to say firstly an enormous Easter THANKS to all you.. our 271 crowdfund backers to date.. In just over four months since we launched we are about to reach the half way point of this, the final campaign to complete our Building a Sound Future capital appeal. That alone makes this one of the largest crowdfund campaigns in Bristol, and certainly the largest arts crowdfund appeal outside of London by a mile!

Building our Sound Future is underway!

We are delighted to confirm to all of our project backers that St George's Bristol's Sound Future is now officially being built!

Our once green and tranquil East garden has transformed over the last two weeks into a hive of activity (as well as a river of red mud when it rains!), with a technicolour array of yellow diggers and hard hats of Midas, our main construction partner, as the groundworks begin ahead of laying the foundations for our new extension.

A touch of gold ..

Many congratulations to our first two Golden Ticket winners, Katie McConochie and Patrick Royston, whose names were drawn from a top hat of all eligible crowdfund backers as part of our new season launch reception at our Soloists of the OAE concert on January 20. We will be in contact by email regarding all outstanding rewards in the course of next week.

A touch of gold also applies to a forthcoming announcment that our main project contractor, Midas, is about to start construction work on our new extension.. on February 20.

£25K by 25th!

Huge thanks to you all for helping us reach the first interim target of our crowdfund appeal..!

Having got off to such a flying start from our launch at the end of November, we set ourselves a first interim target to raise £25,000 by Christmas..

With the traditional sound of carols ringing around the hall in rehearsal for this evening's final Festive Fiesta concert, and the office closing for the festive season, it is fantastic to be able to confirm that this first target has just been achieved.
