Pitching at Business Launchpad Awards 2017
An update for Empower Youth Voices
Apr 27 2017
Hello everyone,
It's a big day for me, as I'm going to be pitching later at the Business Launchpad Awards 2017 as part of a live crowdfunding element. For me, delivering the pitch is relatively simple, but facing questions from those in attendance and promoting my campaign in conversation will be the difficult part.
I'm someone who hates having to talk about myself and I fail to mention the important elements of what I'm doing, but I know I'm going to have to get over that if I want to make Young People Insight successful.
So as I begin to work the room at about 5.15pm and then take to the stage at 7.25pm to deliver my pitch, please send me some best wishes and cyber love. I would greatly appreciate it.

Poetic Insight on Fire!
An update for Empower Youth Voices
Apr 26 2017
Last night's Poetic Insight was fire!
If you couldn't be there, you missed out on a brilliant night of poetry and spoken word.
We welcomed young people performing their poetry for the first time ever, which I always love, because that is exactly what Young People Insight is all about. We also welcomed back some regulars and returning poets, creating a great variety of performances.
Events like Poetic Insight make me truly proud to be a young person and blessed to be surrounded by such a high level of talent. If talents like this were being championed more and promoted in the media, the dialogue on young people would be very different. It's time for wider society to wake up and realise that art brings people together and makes a difference.
Look out for more photos from the night on the Young People Insight Facebook page, and video footage from the night on our YouTube channel.

Two Weeks Gone, Three to go!!
An update for Prevent Drug and Alcohol Use in 5 Schools Through Performing Arts Workshops
Apr 26 2017
Hi all!
So we are two weeks into our crowdfunding today and we've raised £1,020! We are super pleased, and are gearing ourselves up for the final three weeks of the campaign. Thank you for all your help, please continue to share about our project so we can reach more people and achieve our target of £1,500.
We're really keen to be able to deliver these workshops and provide fun, creative and comprehensive education around drugs and alcohol use for the furture of our young people. We have been communicating with more schools in Ealing following their return from the Easter break and they are excited about the project too!
Our crowdfunding has been featured in an article by Inventshift, who are a social enterprise service marketplace for the events business. Also The Tooting Daily Prss wrote a piece about our crowdfunding in association with Business Launchpad. We're really pleased that the crowdfunding is reaching a wider audience so others can see what our project is about. Tomorrow night we are going to be LIVE crowdfunding!! Scary but exciting! This is going to take place at the Business Launchpad Awards at the RBS building. We expect the Awards will be a lively and busy affair, and will update you following the event to let you know how we got on!
Thanks again,
Helena & Daniel

Looking Forward to Poetic Insight
An update for Empower Youth Voices
Apr 25 2017
As you might remember, today is the day of this April's Poetic Insight!
We're looking forward to another night of poetry and spoken word delivered by some very special young talent. As is no set theme this month, we have no idea what topics we're going to hear about or what some young people are going to share, which makes it all the more exciting.
If you happen to be free tonight and are able to make it down to Croydon, we'd love for you to come down and enjoy some poetry with us. The event will be taking place at Project B from 7-9pm with performances starting at about 7.15pm, and the address is 1 Bell Hill, Croydon, CR0 1FB.
Enjoy the rest of your day and we hope to see some of you later :)

You've Gotten Us Over 30%
An update for Empower Youth Voices
Apr 24 2017
Hello everyone,
I want to start off by saying a big thank you for helping us get over 30%! This could not have happened without your amazing generosity over the weekend; you really are the best.
I'm also happy to announce that our campaign has been featured on the Iventshift website. It's a really quick read, so why not take some time to look at it now: http://bit.ly/2q7nkNQ
And if you're free tomorrow, our next poetry night will be taking place and we'd love to have you there. Some amazing young talent will be showcasing some inspiring poetry, which is always a lot of fun. I can also thank you in person, which I would love to have the opportunity to do.
In the mean time, enjoy the rest of your day and please share our campaign if you haven't already. Just one share could make all the difference.

We did it! - Week one target met!
An update for 23 Free Birthday Cakes for 23 Orphaned Children
Apr 23 2017

We're so happy! We hit our 30% target for week one! Thank you so much for your support we couldn't have done it without you.
We also have some exciting news! Our March cake went out to a very happy Chucks at the orphange in Nigeria. He asked for a spiderman cake and we gave him a spiderman cake! He seems really pleased :)
We've also been busy in the Good Cake Day kitchen. We were at spitalfieds on Monday 17 April, where we met some of you lovely people. We've also had a few cake orders, which has been great for business.

We've been nominated for two business awards - "Online presence Award" and "Commitment to the community" - by the Business Launch Pad. The ceremony will be held at the RBS building on Thursday 27 April and you're all invited (tickets are free and can be gotten at http://bit.ly/2oA0e1Y). We'd love to see you.
We're excited about this coming week and hope you'll join us in spreading the word about our campaign.
Until next week, have a good cake day!
xoxo

Happy Sunday!
An update for Empower Youth Voices
Apr 23 2017
Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you're enjoying your weekend.
I want to say a big thank you to everyone who has donated over the past few days and pushed our total up to nearly 30% - your generosity and support had me overwhelmed with emotion.
As you might remember, our forum for April took place on Tuesday when we discussed Synthetic Beauty vs Natural Beauty. If you want to have a little catch up on what we discussed, have a read of our latest blog post: http://bit.ly/syntheticvsnaturalbeauty
Happy reading.

We're Over 20%
An update for Empower Youth Voices
Apr 21 2017
I'm excited to say that we're now over 20%, so we're moving in the right direction, which is up.
With this general election being called, it's imperative for young people to feel that their voices are empowered so that they will go out and vote. They can make all the difference in swinging the election.
So if you haven't shared our campaign yet, please take the time to do it now. Maybe you'll send an email, make a post on Twitter or write a message on WhatsApp. Whatever you do, keep on sharing so that we can empower a greater number of young voices.

An update for Empower Youth Voices
Apr 20 2017
So now we're out of the first week and on to Day 8, with our total currently standing at £438.
Your support and generosity continues to mean so much to me, and I've genuinely been moved by your pledges.
To celebrate all of you and the money raised so far, here's some more of the best bits from our first poetry night in 2017, when the theme was Celebration and Moving Forward.
I hope you enjoy it.
