Hello Cat Lovers,

Good mews! Keep your paws crossed because I found a potential premises for our cafe - the final winner of 21 properties I have viewed (approached over 35!). Time to get things moving! The lawyer has started working on the terms of the lease. The legal process can take up to 3 months depending on the complexity of this property. I know, long! But this is pretty much a normal process when it comes to finding the commercial property and actually getting keys to it! On the side I am working busy on the cafe design, our suppliers, menu, legal and much, much more. Also our vouchers are almost ready, hopefully soon I will start sending them to all of you! So don't worry! Things are happening behind the scenes.

They say you can't rush a good thing!

As we continue to search for match funding, we will be extending the campaign to August. This will create a delay in the work beginning as we won't be able to book any workmen in but we are staying positive. Thank you to all those social media heroes who are helping spread our our voice! Any one day we are usually juggling 6 or 7 roles to run the business and be part of the Bearpit so any man power or advice is appreciated to drive this campaign forward is appreciated.

With 6 days to go we've reached our 50% target! This is an all or nothing campaign that means if we don't reach our target by July 19th we won't be taking any of the money.

The reason being the works we need to do are absolutely necessary and we can no longer put them off! If our 54 pledgers could share our crowdfunding campaign with at least 10 friends we make this happen!

If you have any food lovers out there here's an example of a menu for the private dinner party in our home!

Good Afternoon!

We would like to thank all of our kind supporters who donated to our campaign and shared the information for more to see!

We managed to raise just over £1000, which is fantastic. Although we did not hit our initial £3000 target, with extra sponsorship efforts the amount raised was enough for us to secure the traditional carousel to sit alongside the helter skelter at the event!

For anyone who claimed tickets to ride, once at the event please head to the Mechanics Trust Info Tent (marked with an "I" on the map below) where you will be able to pick up your tickets - these can be used on the carousel and helter skelter. If you could please bring along proof of your donation to collect your tickets, a print-out of your email confirmation will do, that would be great.

Thank you again, please let people know you are attending on social media and ask them to come with you!

6 years ago today I graduated with my degree in Art Direction.

The day I graduated I realised that as much as I loved the world of communication and design, there had to be more to life than coming up with creative concepts to sell cars, phones and clothes.

I've always wondered what the world would look like if community groups, charities and not for profit organisations had the budgets big brands had to get out their message, promote their causes and solve the problems the world faces.

Bearpit Social was a way for us to experiment with this. What if we could serve good coffee and food made with love not only driven by profit margins to drive social change? What if you could create a space where people felt safe in a 'no-go zone'? Where all walks of life could cross each other's path and engage in conversation? What if ideas would come to life over coffee with strangers?

Essentially, that's what we are about. We love what we do. We feel like we've come a long way, but the road ahead is still pretty steep and this time we are asking for your help.

Please help us spread the word, make a pledge, help us to keep fighting to make the Bearpit social, more welcoming, more safe.
