An update for Independently publishing Solomon's Secrets

    Sep 27 2014

A very exciting update for all my fabulous backers and one I've been looking forward to...

It's finished! Finally, Solomon's Secrets is done! *Lets out massive sigh of relief*

I've ordered copies from Amazon and will be taking delivery of a big box full of brand spanking new books on 15th October 2014.

I've also booked the venue for the launch party.

I've booked the function room at The Bavarian Beerhouse in Bristol on Saturday 22nd November 2014 from 6pm.

But it won't be an evening of Dirndl's and Stein's, I've booked it because of its proximity to old Bristol. The party will be a treasure hunt...

We meet at the Bavarian Beerhouse at 6pm for welcome drinks and thank you’s from me, then everyone will receive a goody bag and clues to follow. There’ll be time to have a drink on the treasure hunt too, none of the locations are very far from each other.

Naturally, everyone who has contributed to the crowdfund will get an invitation, but if you’d like to come or would like to bring friends along, please contact me so I know numbers.

Thanks again for all of your support so far and I look forward to celebrating with you all in November.

  • 15 Days of Summer

An update for 20th Century Flicks: The Future

    Sep 26 2014

    Hellooooo Backers,

It's been a massively productive week at The New Place and things are looking fairly optimistic for a late October opening. I'm reguarly updating a photo album on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10153624291128539.1073741828.16834703538&type=1

If you don't do Facebook, get in touch and I'll email em to you!

Basically, shelves have been designed and made... A coffee machine has been bought... Red drapes have been hemmed... Paint has been spilt... Many sandwiches have been devoured.

We have 15 days left of our fundraising campaign. We need to raise another £5000 or so in that time. If you could spread the word among like-minded folk, that'd help a lot!

    Have a great weekend,

Lots of love and thanks and good wishes for you all,

    Dave Taylor

  • 100 Backers! Thank you all!

An update for 20th Century Flicks: The Future

    Sep 21 2014

"Backers! Flicksters! Though we are a tribe of 100 what we accomplish together will echo through eternity! At this pace in 20 days we will not only number an auspicious 300, we will also have achieved our fundraising goal! Our new homeland will be secured and we will rejoice and toast our ancestors, and our descendants will sing songs of our great victory.

    So, um...  Thanks everybody!

I'll be down at the Steps tomorrow (Monday) and Tuesday from midday on so if you want to drop by and have a tea and see what we're up to, please do. It'll be mostly painting and shelving going on, and any and all helping hands are welcome.

    Cheerio!

An update for 20th Century Flicks: The Future

    Sep 17 2014

Hello Flicksters. In just over a week we've almost made it to a third of our total. Thank you all so, so much. When this thing kicked off I wasn't quite prepared for the deluge of love, wishes of success and, from you guys, generous donations that has happened. It's amazing that an idea we've been nurturing for so long has won your vote of confidence. So, sincerely: thanks.

As the New Place begins slowly to take shape, I'm growing increasingly confident that it is going to be a wonderful place! We hope to be ready by the the end of October to allow as seamless a transition as possible from Clifton to the Steps with minimal downtime... Ideally, we'll close Richmond Terrace on the 31st October and reopen on Christmas Steps November 1st.

As ever, please feel free to visit us as we refit the shop and please, help us reach the total by continuing to spread the word among your friends and philanthropic relatives!

    I'll keep you posted,

    Dave Taylor

4 days in and we're already 25% of our way to our aim. Woah. Thank you so much. It's wonderful to have your vote of confidence!

I've added 2 new rewards sinc the launch: The Joanna Hogg Option and The Kathryn Bigelow Option! They are priced at £75 and £20 respectively. Have a looksie and if you think someone you know might be interested in them, please let them know about it.

If you want to keep abreast of what we're doing, we'll be documenting most of what's going on in this Facebook photo album: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10153624291128539.1073741828.16834703538&type=3

    Have a great weekend folks!

  • Deadline extended!

    An update for Re:work Bristol

    Sep 11 2014

    Hi everyone,

Thank you for your continued support for our campaign, it really means so much to us.

The team at Fundsurfer have offered to extend our deadline till the end of the month to give us the chance to gear up for one last big push.

We can also utilise their 'Take what you raise' option meaning that even if we don't hit the full £10,000 we will be able to put the final amount to work doing what we do!

That said we would still love to go for gold!

Thank you all again, please do share with everyone you know to help the fundraising drive.

An update for Independently publishing Solomon's Secrets

    Sep 10 2014

Hello to all you fabulous people who backed me,

I'm making steady progress towards publication, thanks to your help.

I've taken delivery of stock of The Bronze Box for all of you who requested a copy as a reward. I'll email you separately to find out what dedication you’d like me to sign it with, where and when to deliver it, so check your inbox.

This morning I had a good chat with a professional copy editor from Arc Editorial and Literary Consultancy who I commissioned to do a report on the book for me. I have some sprucing up to do and some restructuring. I'll be working on this over the next couple of weeks and think it will be well worth it to make Solomon's Secrets not just a good book, but a great one.

Once I've done that, I will send the final version to the publishers and go through a proofing process before it is released. I was hoping to take delivery of the finished books at the end of September, but realistically, it's more likely to be October now.

I've been looking at dates and ideas for a launch event and, naturally, all of you will get an invitation in due course. The event is likely to be end of October /  start of November - I'll be in touch.

Keep up to date with me on Twitter and Facebook or take a mooch around my blog if you'd like more regular updates: http://ideaism.blogspot.co.uk/

Better go, I have some writing to be getting on with....
